As a Northern Irish leprechaun, I have had a lifelong passion for L&D and its immensely transformative power. Whether crafting learning experiences in the UK, Istanbul (Turkey) or the US, I have always had a knack for breaking down complex ideas into bite-size chunks, and designing learning experiences that are meaningful, aligned with wider business goals and engaging. I have even received an award from the University of Chicago for my ability to do that and was a finalist in the Leading-Edge Performance Awards at Kaiser Permanente!

Part of a well-crafted learning experience is a clear understanding of the issue at hand coupled with focused learning objectives that clearly align with wider business goals. However, you also need a human approach to the design and implementation of a learning experience and a deep-seated understanding of what makes people “tick”. I have that in bucket loads! Undoubtedly, my international profile helps in this regard, so let me tell you a little bit about that.

I was born and raised in Northern Ireland and completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Belfast, before moving to England for my postgraduate studies. What ensued was the beginning of a very fulfilling international career designing and developing learning experiences in England, followed by Istanbul (Turkey) and then California, where I met my husband and put down roots. The ability to communicate across cultures that I developed throughout my years working internationally is one of my greatest strengths, and is remarkably useful when translated into crafting learning experiences.

On top of my international work profile, I have made travel a central part of my life. Heading off the beaten track to destinations less traveled is what gives me life. From South Sudan, to Pakistan, to Cuba, to Russia and China (to name a few), I deliberately seek out experiences that will introduce me to different perspectives of the world.
